| The
US Space Command has adopted the mission of dominating space. To this end
the United States has set up and maintains a network of bases encircling
the surface of the globe. These bases have links to another network, the
network of spy satellites, military communications satellites and targeting
satellites which also ring the globe from their various orbits in outer
space. These satellites are put into use as a system whenever the US goes
to war, whether conventional or nuclear.
The Outer Space Treaty (1967) agreed to by all countries and reaffirmed in a1999 UN vote (138-0, the US abstaining) calls for outer space to be reserved for “peaceful purposes” and proclaims that it is to be the “common heritage” of all countries. It is the mission of Citizens for Peace in Space to work with peace loving citizens around the globe for a peaceful use of space in line with the goals of the Outer Space Treaty.
