Cranes

The ancient Japanese are generally acknowledged as the first screen printers. They used silk threads or human hair to tie their stencil designs in place. Traces of those ties can still be seen in these ancient Japanese stencil prints.

The crane and bamboo are auspicious motifs representing peace, good luck and prosperity

The message is the same in Japanese and English: “This world is a very precious resource.”
